Conflicts: Raccoons can cause severe damage to crops, turf, and structures when they attempt to access a persons home. They transmit diseases such as rabies and raccoon roundworm. All and all, raccoons bring about destruction in their pursuit for shelter.
Safety concerns: The number of reported cases of rabies has increased over the last 30 years, and raccoons happen to be the main culprit. On the other hand, raccoon roundworm can cause blindness, brain damage, and even death. For this reason, avoid any contact with any items contaminated by their droppings.
Reproduction: Raccoons breed in the winter, and give birth in the spring. They have between 3 to 5 babies. Their babies mature within 2 months.
